Microsoft’s M12

In a significant move, Microsoft’s venture fund, M12, has invested an additional $22.5 million into NeuBird, a startup co-founded by Gou Rao and Vinod Jayaraman. This investment comes just months after NeuBird secured a $22 million seed round at a $100 million valuation.

Gou Rao and Vinod Jayaraman bring a wealth of experience to NeuBird, having previously founded Portworx, a cloud-native storage company that was sold to PureStorage for an impressive $370 million. Their backgrounds equip them with deep insights into the complexities of IT operations and the challenges enterprises face in maintaining site reliability.

Team and Technology

NeuBird’s flagship product, Hawkeye, is an AI-powered site reliability engineer (SRE) designed to automate IT operations tasks. The team’s expertise in cloud technologies and AI enables them to create solutions that streamline operations and free human engineers for more strategic work. Rao emphasizes the growing complexity of IT stacks, which makes traditional methods of management increasingly inadequate.

By leveraging large language models (LLMs), Hawkeye can analyze logs and identify issues within systems without compromising sensitive customer data. This capability is particularly crucial for industries such as finance and healthcare, where data security is paramount.

Future Growth

With this new investment, NeuBird aims to expand its market presence, particularly among companies that utilize Azure cloud services. Rao stated that the valuation for this funding round is significantly higher than the previous one, indicating strong investor confidence in NeuBird’s potential.

As the demand for automated solutions in IT continues to rise, NeuBird is poised to become a key player in the space, supported by a team with proven expertise and innovative technology. This investment from Microsoft’s M12 not only enhances NeuBird’s capabilities but also underscores the growing interest in AI-driven solutions for IT operations.
